This page provides internal guidance for Tulane University departments using Uber for university-related transportation.

Available Programs

The following Uber programs are available within the Tulane-Uber partnership.

  • Uber Travel: Manage business rides for faculty, staff, and employees.
  • Uber Vouchers: Provide transportation credits for approved university-related activities.
  • Uber Central: Request and manage rides for other people from a central dashboard, including riders who do not have the Uber app.

Uber Travel

Uber Travel allows departments to manage business rides through an approved Uber for Business Tulane profile. Administrators can manage user access, payment methods, travel policies, activity, and budgets. Employees book eligible rides through the Uber app using the approved business profile.

Request Dashboard Access

  1. Identify the procurement card holder in your department.
  2. Submit an access request by emailing shuttles@tulane.edu.
  3. The request will be reviewed. If approved, dashboard access will be granted.

Set Up And Manage Uber Travel

  • The main administrator receives a link from Uber to complete the initial dashboard setup.
  • Use a university-affiliated email address. Do not use a personal email address.
  • After activation, the procurement card holder and other program administrators manage user access and monitor purchases.
  • Administrators configure payment methods and travel policies and monitor travel activity and budgets.
  • Eligible rides are automatically charged to the department’s approved payment method.

Enroll In Uber Travel

  • Check your university email for an invitation from noreply@uber.com, or use the enrollment link or QR code provided by Tulane.
  • If you already have an Uber account, sign in with the phone number or email address associated with that account. The business profile will be added to your account.
  • If you do not have an Uber account, create one and return to the enrollment instructions.

Book A Ride

Enter the pickup and drop-off locations, select the Uber for Business Tulane profile, and confirm the ride. Verify that the Tulane business profile is selected before booking.


Uber Vouchers

Departments can use Uber Vouchers to provide transportation credits for approved university-related activities. Voucher campaigns can be configured for approved dates, times, pickup and drop-off locations, redemption windows, subsidy amounts, and participant limits.

Request Dashboard Access

  1. Identify the procurement card holder in your department.
  2. Submit an access request to Tulane’s designated team for managing the Uber for Business relationship.
  3. The request will be reviewed. If approved, dashboard access will be granted.

Set Up And Manage Uber Vouchers

  • The main administrator receives a link from Uber to complete the initial dashboard setup.
  • Use a university-affiliated email address. Do not use a personal email address.
  • After activation, the procurement card holder and other program administrators manage user access and monitor purchases.
  • Enter the campaign name and define eligible dates, redemption windows, subsidy amounts, participant limits, and approved ride locations.
  • Distribute vouchers by sharing a custom code or link.
  • Participants must download the Uber app on a smartphone to claim and use a voucher for eligible rides.

Uber Central

Uber Central allows departments to request rides on behalf of other people from one dashboard. Rides can be requested on demand or scheduled up to 30 days in advance. Riders can receive trip details by text message or voice call and do not need the Uber app or an Uber account.

  3. The request will be reviewed. If approved, dashboard access will be granted.

Set Up And Manage Uber Central

  • After activation, the procurement card holder and other program administrators manage user access and monitor purchases.
  • Use Uber Central to book, schedule, modify, track, and pay for rides for other people.

Ride Safety

Before entering a vehicle, confirm that the vehicle and driver match the trip information in the Uber app. If anything does not match, do not enter the vehicle.

1. Confirm The Vehicle
Compare the license plate number, vehicle make and model, and driver photo with the information shown in the Uber app.

2. Verify The Ride
When PIN verification is available, share the PIN with the driver only after confirming the vehicle and driver information.

3. Share Your Trip
When appropriate, use the app to share your location, estimated arrival time, and driver information with a trusted contact
