Please request pick-ups and drop-offs only at the authorized Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone. The Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone is the only location on the Tulane University uptown campus where pick-ups and drop-offs can be made. It is located on the corner of Janet Yulman Way and Willow Street in front of PJ's Coffee. Signs are in place to indicate the beginning and end of the zone. Between 7pm and 7am Monday-Sunday, taxicabs and hired cars can pick up anywhere on campus. Please note that all traffic laws must be observed. You are encouraged to prearrange transportation to ensure that a vehicle is available for you, especially when going to the airport. Be on the lookout for your requested transportation company or driver and be ready to board the vehicle when they arrive. If you have requested a vehicle by phone or mobile app and decide not to use the service, cancel the request by either calling the company or using the app. If you have an account with the company and do not cancel service, a cancellation fee may be charged. Examples of issues that we want to be informed about include rude behavior on the part of the driver, a dirty or unsafe vehicle, credit card machine in taxicab unavailable or broken, or denial of transportation based on your destination. Expanded Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone
Please note: Failure to comply with these policies could result in loss of the privilege to service the Tulane University community.
There is only one authorized Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone on the Tulane University uptown campus. This zone is the only location on the uptown campus where pick-ups and drop-offs can be made. It is located on the corner of Janet Yulman Way and Willow Street in front of PJ's Coffee. Signs are in place to indicate the beginning and end of the zone. From 7pm-7am Monday-Sunday, taxicabs and hired cars can pick up anywhere on campus. Please note that all traffic laws must be observed. Driving through campus to solicit fares is prohibited. The Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone is enforced by the Tulane Police Department, Tulane Parking Services, and Tulane Shuttles & Transportation. All drivers must promptly and professionally comply with requests made by Tulane personnel. Tulane University is a smoke- and tobacco-free campus. Please remember that the Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone is on the Tulane campus. To learn more about the tobacco-free campus policy, click here. Please obey all campus speed limits. Janet Yulman Way is 10 MPH and Willow Street is 15 MPH. TUPD does enforce campus speed limits. Taxicabs & hired car services cannot refuse a fare because the rider is not going to the airport. As indicated by signage, the first parking spot on Janet Yulman Way is reserved for Airport Shuttle, Inc. and is not to be used by taxicabs & hired car services.
Taxicab Policy
A working credit card machine must be available to passengers at all times. Only vehicles with a current CPNC license that is clearly visible on the vehicle will be allowed to pick up and drop off in the Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone. Hired Car Services Policy
If applicable, only vehicles with a current CPNC license that is clearly visible on the vehicle will be allowed to pick up and drop off in the Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone. Please visit the City of New Orleans website for additional information on CPNC licensing. If a CPNC license is not required, the company identification must be displayed clearly on the dashboard or windshield of the vehicle.
Expanded Taxicab & Hired Car Services Zone
When necessary, Tulane Parking Services will block off additional spaces to be used by taxicabs & hired car services. Two zones will be created: Taxicab Zone and Hired Car Services Zone.
1. Expanded Taxicab Zone: The zone will start in the first space in front of the assigned Airport Shuttle space at Willow Street and extend to the first driveway at the Zemurray Pavilion. Vehicles must stay parked within the cones. Vehicles parking within this zone must park as close to the curb as possible to allow for normal traffic flow on Janet Yulman Way. If the zone is full, vehicles may not double park or park outside of the expanded zone. Please return at a later time or make the block until a space opens.
2. Hired Car Services Zone: When the zone is expanded, the area from the Zemurray Pavilion driveway to the Stone Pavilion driveway will be dedicated to hired car services. These vehicles may park and wait for passengers who have contacted them for transportation. Vehicles must stay parked within the cones. Vehicles parking within this zone must park as close to the curb as possible to allow for normal traffic flow on Janet Yulman Way. If the zone is full, vehicles may not double park or park outside of the expanded zone.
